5 Valentine's date ideas on a budget

Valentine's Day is almost here. Whether you've been with your love for 5 years or 5 minutes, you don't need to spend huge amounts of money to show them you much you love them! This list was made to get you thinking about what to do for your Valentine, without going broke!

1) Find a Happy Hour

No matter what city you live in I guarantee that there is an amazing happy hour near you! Happy hour is the perfect idea for Valentine's because there are always more affordable drink AND food items! $5 bites and $4 cocktails? Yes please! After-all, Valentine's Day is on a Tuesday this year! Pick up your sweetheart from work and whisk them away to a fabulous happy hour, it'll be sure to make them smile.

2) Go on a hike

You probably already know that exercising with your significant other is a great way to bond and stay fit! It is free and will be incredibly relaxing. It will also give you time to just focus on each other! Forget the bells and whistles, nature is what it's all about. If the weather is nice, bring a backpack filled with granola, sandwiches, water, and a cute tablecloth and turn it into a picnic!

3) Budget battle

Head to a store like Target or Walgreens and come up with a budget of around $25 to spend on one another. It'll be a really fun way to see what you pick out for each other with such a tight budget. Will your significant other go for quality or quantity? Candy hearts or jewelry? You'll just have to find out!

4) Cook/bake together

Find an amazing recipe online from your favorite foodie blog and try and make it together! When you two go to the store to get all of the ingredients find an affordable bottle of wine you'll both love. Even if the meal doesn't come out perfect, who cares?! It's all about the action of trying to create something together, and having fun doing it. Isn't getting into the kitchen one of the most romantic things you can do with your partner anyways?!

5) Use a gift card

We all have at least one gift card leftover from Christmas that we just haven't gotten around to using yet. Whether it's for the restaurant up the road, a cooking class, or a clothing store, take your partner out and let them spend it on themselves! It is a selfless gesture that is sure to put a pep in your partners step. Trust us, frugality is sexy! It's the perfect way to show them how much you care while still staying within your means!
